How To Make Chicken and Dumplings
This creamy Chicken and Dumplings recipe is the ultimate comfort food! Fluffy, homemade dumplings in the most flavorful creamy chicken soup. Made from scratch in minutes! This soup brings me back to my childhood and chilly days when my grandma would make this soup fluffy dough like pillows swimming in hot, creamy broth. I just wanted to eat more again and again. Chicken and dumplings is comfort food at its best!

1/2 cup of oil
7-8 chicken tenderloins
1/4 chopped onion
3-4 carrots ; sliced to 1/4 inch half rings
1/4 chopped celery
1-2 garlic cloves minced
salt to taste
1 chicken bouillon cube
1/2 cup half and half
1/2 cup whole milk
4 tablespoon of butter, 2 for veggies and 2 for chicken
2 tablespoon butter -roux
1 /2 teaspoon thyme
red pepper flakes, optional
1/2 cup ,frozen green peas
Fresh parsley ,garnish
1 1/4 cup flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon butter, frozen
1 1/3 cups half and half or milk
In a glass bowl combine flour, baking powder , salt, butter and half and half or milk and mix together until well combined. NOTE: I combined dough mixture with my hands .
Take Dough mixture out the glass bowl and place on to a floured surfaced and knead just a few times to form a ball shape.
Roll out the dough to 1/8 inch thick and cut into a rectangular shape.(shape of pillows) Cover with a damp towel until ready for them.
Chop up all vegetables.
Add carrot , onion, celery, garlic and 2 tablespoon butter and oil in a large pot. saute vegetables until tender, about 3 minutes.
Take the veggies out of the pot and set aside.
Cut your chicken tenderloins into cubes. Cook chicken over medium-high heat until brown on both sides. Once chicken pieces are browned, remove and set aside.
Make Roux- heat stove to medium to medium high heat 3 tablespoons of oil , 1/4 cup flour , 2 tablespoon butter, chicken bouillon cube and pepper whisk until well combined still white in color. Add 4 cups water to pot continue to whisk flour mixture it will start to thicken.
Add chicken cubes, vegetable mix, bring to a simmer. Taste to see if you need anymore seasoning.
Add milk, thyme, to the pot bring to a simmer. Once to a simmer add frozen peas .
Bring to a light boil and add in the dumplings, one by one. Stir Gently, cover and cook for 10 minutes or until are tender and done. Enjoy!!
