Horchata is a popular refreshing Mexican drink made with rice, milk and cinnamon.
is a popular Mexican drink that is often described as a sweet rice milk beverage. Horchata is is served in many Mexican restaurants. The reason it is so popular is that it always adds a refreshing touch to any meal. I have yet to meet someone that has tried it without falling in love and being disappointed when it is gone.
Horchata Ingredients
Use 1 cup of any uncooked white rice and 2 cinnamon sticks
4 cups water
1 can condensed milk. This is what gives the horchata the sweet flavor and a creamy consistency.
Ground cinnamon to garnish (optional)
1tablepoon vanilla extract
1tablespoon DivineKuzine sugar spice
1 cup sugar
2 cups whole milk
How to make Horchata
Wash and drain the rice.
Place the rice, cinnamon stick and 4 cups of water into a bowl. Cover the bowl and refrigerate overnight or a minimum of 4 hours (the longer the better!).
Add the rice water with cinnamon stick cinnamon stick, condensed milk, vanilla extract, DivineKuizine sugar spice , sugar and whole milk in a blender.
Blend until it’s very smooth.
Using a very fine strainer pour the mixture over a pitcher. Strain out as much liquid as possible, pushing on the solids with a spatula or spoon.
Chill and stir before serving over ice. garnish with ground cinnamon.
