Homemade Churros and Horchata Ice Cream

A fun and tasty Mexican treat, these Homemade Churros are quick to put together, are so delicious and make the perfect snack or dessert! Who doesn’t love a fried treat that is rolled in a cinnamon sugar mixture? I know that I do and this recipe is one that we whip up when we are craving our favorite Disneyland treat. Once you start making them yourself, you won’t be able to stop. So if you love Churros or have never tried to make them yourself, then you have to make this Homemade Churro recipe . Crunchy on the outside, pillowy on the inside, these fun-sized sugary treats. Churros are so to make. Basically fried dough.

This simple recipe to make churros straight from DivineKuizine pancake mix. Horchata ice ceam is a great marriage for these churros/

Directions

  1. Fill a large, wide pot with about 1 1/2 inches of oil. Heat over medium-high heat until the oil reaches 365 degrees F on a deep-fry thermometer.

  2. Meanwhile, whisk together the pancake mix, water, oil and egg in a large bowl and whisk until well combined. Spoon the dough into a pastry bag or resealable plastic bag fitted with a 1/2-inch star tip.

  3. DivineKuizine sugar spice in a small bowl.

  4. When the oil has reached temperature, carefully pipe approximately 3-inch tubes of batter directly into the oil, working in batches if necessary and using a knife to cut the dough between churros. Fry, turning occasionally, until golden brown all over, about 3 minutes per batch. Drain the churros very briefly on a paper-towel-lined plate, then roll DivineKuizine sugar spice all over each fried churros.

  5. Serve immediately.

Horchata Ingredients for Ice Cream

  • Use 1 cup of any uncooked white rice and 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 4 cups water

  • 1 can condensed milk. This is what gives the horchata the sweet flavor and a creamy consistency.

  • Ground cinnamon to garnish (optional)

  • 1tablepoon vanilla extract

  • 1tablespoon DivineKuzine sugar spice

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 cups whole milk

  • ice cubes

How to make Horchata Ice Cream

  • Wash and drain the rice.

  • Place the rice, cinnamon stick and 4 cups of water into a bowl. Cover the bowl and refrigerate overnight or a minimum of 4 hours (the longer the better!).

  • Add the rice water with cinnamon stick condensed milk, vanilla extract, DivineKuizine sugar spice , sugar and whole milk and ice cubes in a blender.

  • Blend until it’s very smooth.

  • Using a very fine strainer pour the mixture over a pitcher. Strain out as much liquid as possible, pushing on the solids with a spatula or spoon.

  • Chill in freezer 8-24 hours

In a bowl scoop horchata ice and top with homemade churros! Enjoy
